Bursaries

Bursary applications now closed

The RACGP has established a fund to provide bursaries for the WONCA 2023 World Conference in Sydney. The aims of the bursaries are:

  • to advance family medicine worldwide,
  • to provide opportunities for family medicine doctors who would otherwise not be able to attend, and
  • to support the development of outstanding future leaders internationally.

Donations will assist bursary recipients attending WONCA 2023, providing them with valuable networking and learning opportunities. Bursary recipients will be selected based on their responses through a formal application process.

A message from Dr Harris Lygidakis, CEO of WONCA

Participating in an international conference is a humbling experience: you must leave your context’s prejudice shoes at the doorstep to absorb with fully opened eyes how colleagues assist their patients in their own context. Only then you will appreciate deeply the emotions, best practices, but also frustrations and concerns of your colleagues. And if a spark in your eyes is the result of this experience, I am sure you will come back at your own practice reinvigorated by sharing common values with other colleagues and a touch of hope. Experiencing this incredible opportunity can be provided through the bursary programme — and I would urge all of you to apply for it.
